Why is membership in ASLA so important?
That’s easy. I have been a continuous member since 1980. I have been a member as an employee, a firm owner and now as a leader in a large national firm. While my roles in the profession have changed over the past 32 years my commitment ASLA has not. ASLA is the only organization that is looking after our interests on a statewide, national and international basis. By participating in the organization you are able to be at the forefront of what is new and exciting in the industry, you are able to develop an incredible network for job, teaming and learning opportunities. If you choose to get involved at the Chapter level on the Board of Directors you are eligible to represent the Chapter with a stipend to travel to the national meetings and the mid-year meeting in Washington DC. In every firm I have been associated with I have made sure that membership in ASLA is paid for by the firm, and the payback to the firm and the employees have been beyond measure. Participation in ASLA is not an expense it is an investment in your profession, your firm’s success and your career. If you are already a member challenge you colleagues to join, if you are new to the profession do every you can to participate, and if you are a principal or firm owner help your staff become more proactive in the profession. 32 years and counting with no regrets!
